Are you curious to know how Lebanon looked like back in the 19th century? The Sfeir-Semler Gallery presents a series of vintage photographs from the renowned collection of photography pioneers Ruth and Peter Herzog (from Basel, Switzerland). This collection has achieved its uniqueness through the collector’s eyes, which do not look to the art market but rather to the remnants of history that photography has left behind for us. The photographs selected by the gallery depict 19th century Lebanon, Palestine, and other parts of ‘Greater Syria’ in black and white and hand-coloured landscapes and portraits.
Tue-Sat 11am-6pm. Until Oct 29
