Balls of Fury

Crouched behind a pile of sandbags, you slowly raise yourself up and cautiously peek out, heart pounding, scanning the surrounding area. All of a sudden you hear a loud ‘POP! POP! POP!’ followed by a soft ‘WHIZZ!’ as two bright objects fly by you, and before you have a chance to react - ‘SPLAT!’ Your facemask is covered with bright orange paint. Oh, the joy of a good game of paintball.

This relatively young sport was born in 1981, the brainchild of three American adrenaline junkies, Charles Gaines, Hayes Noel and Bob Gurnsey. Now, 28 years later, it’s a hugely popular sport with millions of players, experts and enthusiasts around the world. So, it should come as no surprise that this thrilling game is all the rage here in Beirut. So now the question is, if you’re up for a whirl on the paintball field, where do you go??
