Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Arab Business Plan Competition, host annually in Cairo, the MIT Enterprise Forum of the Arab Region, in partnership with Abdul Latif Jameel (ALJ) Company. Their goal is to encourage the launch of new ventures presented in industries such as energy, engineering, health care, internet-based business solutions, software and telecoms.
Lebanon's own Little Engineer, an after-school edutainment centre, was recognised as one of the MENA’s most promising entrepreneurs and awarded with $50,000 as start-up capital. Egypt's BioBusiness group was named first runner-up, with a $15,000 prize to help realise their business aspirations. Also Arabic Coach from Yemen and EG-Bioinformatics from Egypt both received $5000 each in start-up funding, with all teams receiving mentorship from international business consultants.
