Back In 1895, the trial of Oscar Wilde begins in London at a time where homosexuality is penalized in England as in many countries. Before the start of his trial, Oscar Wilde has never shown any interest in the rights of homosexuals. He lives in the hour of his success literary and social descent. Married with two children, Like many men of the Victorian era, spends most of his time in the company of other men, the occurrence of beautiful boys who love art and especially poetry among them Lord Alfred Douglas who became his lover. He becomes a kind of martyr conscious of the homosexual cause.
Released last April 2010, the french movie 'Le procès d'Oscar Wilde' tells the story of Wilde's battle from the pen and vision of French director Christian Merlhiot. Screened this Feb 18 at the Beirut Art Center after an experimental fiction short movie 'Tripoli'.
