You know the phrase ‘knowledge is power’? This summer, let the Little Engineer instil the best of both in your young brainiac.
We’ve got a riddle for you!
What Lebanese, kid friendly company started only last year, and has since rep- resented Lebanon among the 100 best business plans across 18 participating Arab countries from the MENA 100 Business Plan Competition, and has been recognised as one of the Middle East and North Africa’s most promising entrepreneurs (bagging an award of $50,000 start-up capital) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Arab Business Plan Competition?
Give up! We don’t blame you, but our little local gem is none other than the Little Engineer, a marvel of a program developed by AUB engineering professor and mother of three, Rana El Chemaitelly.
The Little Engineer is an after-school edutainment centre that introduces kids and teens to the world of science and engineering through hands-on learning activities that involve robotics, creativity, as well as renewable energy. Programs that teach kids about solar, wind, geothermal energies as well as Hydrodynamic power and biomass are just a few mouthfuls your little one will learn about this summer (we probably should take a crash course too!).
This summer, The Little Engineer is churning out a bunch of events which kids from all over Lebanon can enjoy. ‘Science in the Street’, to be held in Downtown Beirut, will help kids explore the marvels of engineering and especially green technology; a robotics display and even a futuristic home will take over Uruguay Street.
With activity centers in the newly-built Science Village as well as their own sessions this summer there is no way you should deny
your young Einstein the opportunity to learn and appreciate the magnificence of smart engineering.
‘Science in the Streets: Kids and Teen go Green’ Uruguay Str, Downtown. Sat and Wed 4pm-8pm (nominal fees may apply).
