A Sunday night has never been a more mellow affair: a 1919 vintage film screened alongside some live experimental oriental electronica. ‘The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari’, a German expressionist movie that is said to be the first film to use the ‘twist’ narrative mechanism, will be accompanied by a score performed and composed by Munma.
Munma – Wajdi Elian and Jawad Nawfal – formed in the tumultuous summer of 2006 and have since then prolifically released a series of albums, each making heavy use of experimental recording techniques and sampling. Their score will trace the macabre story of Dr. Caligari and his somnambulist companion through a world of murder and delusion.
