Following a recent US tour, Peter Jam is back in Beirut for two gigs. An
Armenian singer-songwriter and peace activist based in Beirut, he might
just bring the hippy out in you with his messages of peace, love and
unity. His 2010 album – aptly titled ‘Love loves you, & we all love
you my friend’ – has a cover that pictures him on a beach in the
sunshine that looks almost like
a smiley Hare Krishna flyer. Don’t let this mislead you though, as his
music packs a heavy punch, flitting between alternative rock with heavy
guitars and snarly vocals to a 60s-style Armenian-influenced jam, and
acoustic Joe Strummerstyle melodies with piano.
