Dancing on top of the dead?
My heart sank a few nights ago after an extremely pleasant morning (I say morning because nothing begins in Beirut until after 12am) at BO18.
This underground venue in Charles Malek Ave, Quarantina (AKA Karantina) surely lives up to its expectations, with a divine and exhilarating atmosphere guaranteeing that the heavens hear our morning bliss when the rooftop unbolts its heavy eye.
I didn’t stop to consider that the location of this nightclub is ploughed deep where 1000 Palestinians endured a formidable massacre in the 1970s.
Should we be dancing in honour of their death or should this nightclub be moved a cold distance and a memorial statue built in its place?
