Ekher Beyt Bel Jemmayze (The Last House in Gemmayzeh) is a Franco- Lebanese tragicomedy written and directed by Betty Taoutel of Star Academy 1 and 2 and produced by Urban Art. Its showing in May proved so popular that it’s back by demand for another staging. The Bu Karaz family’s life in their Gemmayzeh home is wrought with laughter and tears, but now its members face the devastating decision of whether to sell their age-old home or not – the last traditional Lebanese dwelling left in the area. As the play progresses, we are introduced to each character and his or her close relation to the home, and the stories that accompany this nostalgic connection. In this neighbourhood that never rests, the stories are as fun as they are serious, and all result in a threatened ending to the last house standing.
The play run from Oct 14 till Oct 23. For reservation call 01 202422
