Since 2009, the Samir Kassir foundation has run an annual festival inspired by some of the assassinated journalist’s last writings. Tonight, as part of the Beirut Spring Festival, features ‘At my age, I’m still hiding to smoke’, an Orten Company production, by writer Raihana, and director Fabian Chappuis. The play is a tragicomedy tracing the lives of nine women of different ages and experiences in Algiers. The play will be followed by a debate, ‘Une ecriture du reel’, including the speakers Raihana, Ahmad Beydoun (Lebanese sociologist), Roger Assaf (Theatre Director), Philippe Taszman (Managing Director at Groupuv).
