Having produced more than a dozen plays, the Lebanese Puppet Theatre has risen to perform at major international festivals in Europe and throughout the Arab World, earning international awards and recognitions. In August, one shouldn’t miss ‘Merjane Sleep’, one of the company’s most renowned spectacle, performed with beautiful old handmade puppets.

The play tells the story of Prince Merjane, the son of the Sultan, who is not able to sleep. To solve his problem, he commands all the women of the kingdom to tell him a bedtime story. None of them is able to make him fall asleep – enter Scheherazade, the princess of the Thousand and One Nights. The company will also perform ‘My Grandma’s House’, a shadow play that aims at raising awareness of the risks to our environment and respecting the heritage of our elders.
