Relax your tired feet and enjoy a hot beverage, or simply choose one of their delicious desserts on offer. The perfect place to catch up with friends, family or enjoy me-time and people watch.
ABC Mall, Achrafieh Str100% natural; preservative-free and locally sourced wherever possible, this self service café's laidback atmosphere and commitment to slow food make it a great snack stop.
Hamra StrBubble T is the first of its kind to hit Lebanon. Hailing from Taiwan, bubble tea is an uncanny combination of ice tea, regular tea and tapioca pearls, flavoured with one of the 18 different flavours on offer. With few places to sit except for the outside seating area, this is more of a quick stop-by, followed by a stroll on the town.
Hamra StrThis open front eatery has all the charm of a neighbourhood hangout. Found amongst the Monot Street bars, Burger Booze provides the perfect pit stop for a quick bite. With a well-stocked bar, diners can enjoy a cocktail or two while they wait. A welcoming and characterful alternative to the burger chains.
Monot Str, MonotBurger Nation’s claim to fame is its top-quality meat flown in chilled all the way from Australia.
Ground Floor, Chayber Bldg, Hamra StrBurgundy's design might be elegantly understated (even the fantastic chandeliers manage to be minimalist) but the luxurious wine and food menus are anything but - its wine list is a (rich) oenologist's wet dream, and comes with superb experimental French cuisine from bright young Canadian chef Brody White. One of the most gastronomically exciting places to eat and drink in town.
752 Gouraud StrThe Buttermint space is calm yet funky, all red and black and cool artwork. Their menu contains such oddball delights as chicken mango chutney wrap and snickers cappuccino, with excellent breakfasts, and is a firm neighbourhood favourite.
Piccadilly StrLebanese cuisine made hip, with futuristic narguilehs and waiters in funky cherwal outfits. Their twists on traditional dishes are spectacular and beautifully presented, with scrumptious desserts like Halawi Chocolate tart.
ABC Mall, Achrafieh StrThe cafeteria serving both the CCF and the French embassy is suitably chic, and attractively secluded. Achrafieh’s La Mie Dorée supplies them with the delicious desserts like ‘La Vie en Rose’, a fluffy pink angel cake. Lunches include such delights as roast salmon with honey.
CCF, Damascus Rd, MathafCafé Hamra is a great fusion of American '50s diner and Lebanese hookah lounge. Snack on hummus and pull at your teffehteyn in between pinball machines, vinyl and help-yourself caskets of paperback books; we particularly love the massive salad bar for LL17,000 a head. There’s also a fabulous big terrace at the back.
Hamra Str, HamraBoth tea and cake are plentiful at Café la Joie. The French salon style venue sets the tone for this charming tea room. High ceilings and a mixture of restored antique and modern furniture make for a colourful setting. The attention to detail stretches further than the seating with elegant china, and patterned silver ware. Luckily there are no dried out cakes found here – far from it. The Pecan Chocolate Fondant Coulant is the perfect light hit when only chocolate will do, and Blueberry Madeleines burst with fruity flavour and moisture. For those looking to lunch, a sizeable menu of savoury grilled and club sandwiches will tantalize the taste buds. Affable staff are ready to help with this classy dining experience.
Syria Str, SaifiA self-styled ‘mozzarella bar’ with an emphasis on fresh, seasonal ingredients and light, shareable dishes for people in between shopping sprees. There’s a good breakfast menu and some inventive Mediterranean-inspired dishes like halloumi and mint salad, brie and apple bruschetta or pineapple ravioli with ricotta.
