As one would expect from a corporate concept, Nando’s offers an
efficient standardised service. The Portuguese franchise opened its
first local outlet in Hamra, not more than six years ago. Shortly
after, branches sprouted across Lebanon. Nando’s Kaslik is one of their
latest expansion plans. Like its sibs, this outlet is set out in a
colourful, Latin-spirited interior. It offers a menu predominated with
chicken as a main ingredient. With chicken sandwiches and skewers of
chicken skating across the room, to hear clucking sounds hailing from
the open kitchen would not cause much of a stir. An open kitchen policy
is not quite common in such restaurants and, although doesn’t prove
enough, gives some reassurance to the patrons. The chicken Espetada is
a typical Portuguese dish made of chunks of meat rubbed in Nando’s
signature marinade of your choice, skewered onto a stick with
vegetables and grilled to perfection. Whether chicken or beef, the
Espetada is served hanging over a portion of grilled veggies. For a
classic, try the marinated grilled chicken whole, half or quarter and
choose among the sides. The innovative desserts list includes a decent
apple crumble presented in a clay pot.
