There are no laminated menus in this sushi hot spot. Unlike many Japanese restaurants the seating is spacious so you don’t end up sat on your neighbour’s lap. Getting a table is the hardest part, but once seated, easily forgotten. The seating at the central sushi bar was our favourite choice, where we watched the chef slice and splice our dinner with hypnotic ease. The California Rolls were deliciously plump and sticky, and a portion of Black Bean Noodles was enough to share, leaving just enough room for a chocolately desert and a dip into the extensive wine list. Waitresses glide around in kimonos and the service is on the ball. Despite the polished environment the atmosphere is surprisingly welcoming and informal. From Jan 1, 2012 Le Sushi Bar will employ a non smoking policy, offering a smoking lounge for those with a craving.
