Women are still vastly discriminated in our society, with lack of freedom,s choice and power. The festival will run for eight days with different events focused on social discrimination, from art exhibitions, to film screenings and seminars.

Dr. Anissa Al Amine and Dr. Monzer Jaber
A seminar that will address the position of threatened women living in conflict areas. Both professors at the Lebanese University, will inform attendees about a growing issue occurring today.

Women in Exile
Ms. Hanan Issa, a journalist for numerous media stations in Lebanon, continues the festival’s seminars by engaging the audience in an intriguing discussion and presentation about Palestinian women entitled ‘Women in Exile’ Babel.

Unveiled Views: Muslim Women
Artists Speak Out A groundbreaking documentary by Alba Sotorra exploring the lives of five different women living in Middle East countries, talking about their occupations, as well as their status and rights within their country.

Women and Men Portraying Power
Onstage A playwriting workshop by Robert Myers, discussing strategies to help 15 participants write about themes of gender and power in militarily and politically stricken societies with reference to different playwrights. Participants must have good working knowledge in English.
Wed 2, 3pm.

Pink Saris
A film by Kim Longinotto, exploring the lives of two Indian girls, frightened and determined to fight against their harsh surroundings. An amusing look at the political activists who push for the rights of women and the family dramas that are surrounding them.
Tickets LL7,000. Wed 2, 8.30pm.
