Keep up with Team Lebanon

Interested in Team Lebanon's objective to climb seven summits in seven continents? Check out where they are now as Time Out updates you daily on their adventures. Want to know more? Check out TOB's article on the team.

January 20 was day eight of their expedition. As they were resting at base camp, they have been listening to many stories that have put the team’s morale a bit down, like the two Americans that were evacuated by helicopter in emergency due to cerebral edemas and a Greek guy who came back from Camp three with frostbites.

The climbers are feeling quite tired. Overall they are very humbled by the difficulty of this experience and they hope to go the furthest they can up this awesome yet grueling mountain, that has a success rate of 25 per cent.

January 21 was day nine, it was a sad day for the climbers as a key member of the team, Georges Mikhael, was evacuated yesterday evening by helicopter because of an old injury in his Achilles tendons, which prevented him from further pursuing the expeditions.

On day ten the team climbed from Camp one to Camp two, to reach the altitude of 5,500m.

Avedis, Peter, Lindos and Joyce woke up hazy and started to hike breathlessly a very steep hill of mixed terrain (gravel, snow and ice).

It is becoming hard for them to stay motivated and positive, as their physical condition is degrading and their mind is starting to tell them to go home and relax.

Now it has been over two days that Time Out has not received any news from Team Lebanon. Yet, there's ‘nothing to worry about so far’, and ‘if there was anything bad I would have heard, as the guide company has my number in Mendoza and would have contacted me’ Georges Mikhael said.

January 25 was summit day for the team with only 3 climbers attempting to go up the mountain. As they made their way towards the summit the temperature was -20°C with winds gusting at 50-60 km/hr.

Two members of the team, Peter Mouracade and Lindos Daou planted the Lebanese flag on top of Mount Aconcagua, one of the highest peaks in the entire world.

One summit down, six more to go for team Lebanon.

Dear Joy, You know here at Time Out Beirut we would like nothing better to spice up an article and give it the special boost we always do. Unfortunately, these are the only updates we get from the team as they complete their challenging journey. However, when they are back be sure to check our website for another interview with the team that will certainly cover their experiences more in depth. For now, may we suggest that on top of checking this daily updated journal you communicate with them through their Facebook page. Best, Time Out Beirut

Great initiative by Team Lebanon and this is a great way to keep up with them! But I feel it would be better to add a personal touch to the team's journey.. such as what each person is going through today, what did they say, who is leading, who got there last :) .. etc. Bref, something to spice it up a bit! Good luck and keep it up!
